Hopes for a Better Birth For You
I became a doula because I want to walk alongside a woman and her family, to offer support where I can and to empower the birthing person to use their voice to achieve the birth they aspire to have. I get so much from supporting parents but especially moms in the pre and postnatal periods.
I am passionate about encouraging the empowerment of women in every aspect of their lives but especially in childbirth. The woman is the expert in her body and her baby and has an innate knowledge of how best to birth. I hope to work with clients in a way that helps them to feel like their voice matters, that they get a say in how they birth. I will provide emotional support and be a listening ear and a positive voice if you are surrounded by negativity.
I can offer a variety of services and the type of support is determined by the family’s needs.
- Batch cooking in anticipation of baby’s arrival
- Birth movement techniques to encourage optimal birthing position
- Researching up-to-date data for fully informed decision making
- Emotional support during fertility challenges, miscarriage, baby loss, adoption, or fostering process
I am happy and willing to attend home and hospital births, water and land births, vaginal and belly births.
I also offer one-to-one and group baby massage classes, breastfeeding support, 3 Step Rewind sessions for Birth Trauma, group mental health information sessions, Better Birth Workshops, and birth biomechanics to assist women to get the baby into an optimal birthing position.
I have worked in mental health and wellbeing for 18 years and I have supported all sections of the communities within Northern Ireland. I have experience in providing training in sexual health awareness, LGBTQIA+ support and education, mental health training programs utilizing CBT practice, birth rights, and wellbeing program delivery. I completed full training with the International Association of Infant Massage (IAIMS) to become an Infant Massage Instructor and I am a 3 Step Rewind for Birth Trauma Practitioner. I am trained in Safe Talk, ASIST, Mental Health 1st Aid, and NEXUS - Break the Silence on Sexual Trauma training.
Other than all things pre, ante, and postnatal, I enjoy wild swimming, knitting, diving, reading, and sitting in front of a fire with friends and good coffee. But mostly, I love just spending time with my two daughters, husband Peter, and Barney the dog.
Get in touch and let’s see how I can best serve you.
